For all folks trying to tone up their bodies know this painful fact that for the whole weight loss regime to work we must watch what we eat and by that I mean we must resist the temptation to eat. If we don’t watch what we are giving our bodies then there’s actually no point in all the “khuwari” as we believe it to be.
The whole process of losing weight is a major pain in the rear and probably the worst part of it is the temptation to eat. Yeah, not the exercise or planned meals but the craving is the absolute worse situation that all Weight Loss Driven folks go through every single day. Cravings are normal, science says it’s our body’s way of telling us that it needs something and that is true but know this that most of the time, its just purely niyyat ki kharaabi. All those people who gain weight do so mostly because of the uncontrollable food intake and these cravings are what make them do that. Ask yourself: Have you never wanted to eat a burger or anything just cuz it looks yum even when you know that it probably has donkey meat in it? We crave for crap and it’s hard to ignore it but when your hungry don’t grab a Snickers, think of an alternative.
In my experience, as a junk food lover and someone trying to lose a few inches here and there I’ve come across some good choices for killing the craving and eating good.
Corn is a very moderate source of carbs and at the same time, it is a good way to fill yourself up when you’re craving for something filling. Have one or maybe more but not as many as you like cuz it can probably upset the stomach. It is for 20 Rupees and challee wala (Not Chai Wala, please note) is available almost everywhere so why not?
Chaney (Chick Peas)
They may not be appealing for some but they are pretty much filling, either when taken from the road-side stalls in the rainy cold weather or just simply taken as a part of the salad. So instead of that packet of masala chips or cookies, why not a packet of chaney? Chaney might make a lot of people feel pretty gaseous throughout the day, but hey! That packet of chips with fifty percent air can give you constipation and worse, layers of fat.
Fruit Chat (Fruit Salad)
White peeps might call it a salad but we don’t. A mixture of fruit with some brown sugar and maybe lemon or chat masala brings out the desi-ness in boring food. Just saying the word ‘salad’ feels like you are being deprived of your basic human food rights at times, but hey it’s not so bad after all! Fruits do help in keeping you full as well as hydrated.
We Pakistani love kababs and we like them spicy and in case no one notices, very oily. When you feel that uncontrollable urge to stuff yourself with something eat kababs, preferably made in desi ghee. You can go for potato cutlets as well if are looking forward to avoiding the meat of any sorts. Mixed with chaney ki daal and fried in olive oil, these can be the healthiest as well as the yummiest.
Neem Garam Doodh (Warm Milk):
If you aren’t lactose intolerant then milk is the perfect choice for that time of the day when all you want to do is satisfy those hunger pangs. I know it’s not food but warm fresh milk with some brown sugar is all you need for a regular dose of calcium. Fresh milk that isn’t processed tastes very different and is actually filling so when you’re craving for something even in the middle of the night, have some milk. It even helps in falling asleep!
