We all hear so much about ‘toning our bodies’ and though we sort of might have an idea what it is about when it comes to putting the concept in words we might just shrug. Toning is basically sculpting your body, putting some extra fat here and there into place, making your body look more athletic and most importantly when we speak of body toning, we think of lowering the fat deposits in the body whereas increasing the lean mass. A toned body, therefore, means a tight belly rather than a loose bulging one, firm thighs and beautifully sculpted arms. Body toning is most for those individuals who aren’t very skinny but aren’t obese either, they have the right amount of fat on their body but just needs a little bit of tucking in and straightening out.
Alright, so enough of all the introductory talk let’s get right into it, shall we? Now that we know what body toning is and what we want to achieve from it, let us look at ways to make it happen.
Increasing your fruit and vegetable intake
This should be your first step towards getting a toned body. Your diet matters a lot and how you plan on balancing it matters even more. Do note that processed fruits and canned ones do not count, neither should you rely on them. Whole fruits that contain a good amount of natural nutrients and fiber are what you should be aiming at. Make sure that at least half of the times, your dessert consists of fruit content.
Cardio is your new best friend
No kidding, cardio is one of the best things to grab a hold of at gym if you want to aim for a toned body. Lifting weights is another thing that really strengthens your muscles and gives them that firm Feel that a toned body carries.
Take up a sport
So gym doesn’t interest you, no big deal. Take up a strenuous sport that actually puts your muscles to work. Go swimming, join a hiking club, go for biking and pair it up with your exercise routine at home or the gym whenever the usual routine bores you out.
Importance of fiber in your diet
A huge part of toning involves tightening of the skin and what contributes to that and helps with it is fiber and of course, water. Hence, you need to make sure you don’t run out on both so that your skin remains healthy. Drink ample amounts of water, keep a bottle at hand to help you monitor your intake. Take a handful of nuts each morning as soon as you wake up and turn to oatmeal for the breakfast. Choose water over fizzy drinks especially with the meal, if you really crave for something sweet, take fruit juice instead of that glass of Coke.
