Summers are hot and annoying but one little thing that maybe most of us don’t see is that this is the only time of the year when we can have ice, ice, and everything ice! From ice-creams to chilled juices and shakes to our good old Lassi that is so easy to make …if it’s being made in a blender that is.
Summers also bring fruits and fruits that rot easily so what better way to consume them and add a little spunk to them then make shakes and smoothies and the best part, we can make them at home, totally cheap and totally healthy (well not cheap exactly cuz fruit is expensive nowadays). They help in keeping you full, regulating your weight and are especially good if you’re trying to gain weight cuz many fruits contain fiber and essential sugars that help bulk up the body so below we list a fair few yummy and very easy to make drinks that anyone who knows how to work a blender can make.
1. Date Milkshake
So dates, what better time to consume them than in this month of Ramadan when it is the dates everywhere?! If you don’t like eating ’em then mix 4-5 of them up ½ cup cold milk, 1 cup of yum vanilla ice-cream and some whipped creamed on top and you have yourself a heavy, filling and high-calorie drink that can help put up some pounds
2. Caramel Cream & Coffee Shake
If you love caramel and you love coffee, then this is the drink for you. 3. Banana Oat Smoothie
Bananas and oats both are really good when it comes to gaining weight, just eating bananas increases some pounds but in a healthy way. 4. Chocolate Avacado Smoothie
Avocado may not be the first thing that pops up when you wish to eat or drink something yummy but avocado put together with some chocolate, oolala. Take 1 ½ cup of milk, ½ avocado, pitted and scooped out, 1 cold banana, 2 Tbsp. cocoa powder and 1 Tbsp. honey, blend them in a blender and you get a thick creamy drink and the best part chocolate can be replaced with banana, orange or raspberry or any other ingredient of choice.
5. Peanut Butter Smoothie
May it be smooth, creamy or chunky; peanut butter is love and peanut butter makes you gain weight. Whip together ½ cup milk, ¼ cup Greek yogurt (if you’re really health conscious), 1 heaping Tbsp. peanut butter, ½ tap. vanilla extract and any fruit or ingredient of your choice like bananas or chocolate and blend all these together with some ice and you have a smoothie folks.
Shakes and smoothies essentially have milk or yogurt in them, if you can’t have milk then try some almond milk, it doesn’t give you gas if you have low tolerance for dairy and it tastes good and in every drink add loads of ice and serve fresh and if you’re looking for healthier option on what to eat and drink that’s right for the Pakistani body then explore the options at Nutright to get an understanding of what you can do for your body to keep it healthy and fit.
