Since New Year is around the corner, many people like me would be busy adding things to their New Year Resolution List. Losing weight, looking hotter and slimmer, shedding off the last 10 pounds, these are some of the most common resolutions that we all have. I don’t know about the rest but I sure can help you find a good gym for your desired environment.
Many people like to get done with their workouts at their home. But there is a much larger chunk of people who like going to proper and professional gyms to get their daily or weekly dose of fitness. Working out at a gym has its perks that you cannot find at home. At the gym you will be able to find people who are like-minded and can join you as workout buddies. Many gyms have in house trainers who can guide you with the basics and then you can pay extra for personal training sessions. This is especially helpful for those who are new to gym equipment. Working out alone at home can get lonely and you do not have people around you that you can aspire to. One of the major reasons why I find myself switching gyms is when I find a lack of people who motivate me.
Following are the top gyms in Karachi that you would love going to if you work out regularly
1) Kore Fitness
This is one of my top favorite places for a number of reasons. The equipment is top notch. And by top notch I mean no expense spared. The place is not too big but it is comfortable enough for you to be able to work out within your own space even during peak hours. The crowd is mixed, there is no segregation. If you are a newbie and you want to feel the pump and motivation of doing real workouts then Kore is the place to be at. Aside from the regular gym, they also have a place that is called the MUV Base. This is where all their workout classes take place like Zumba, MMA and many others. It is located in Defence, Khayaban-e-Sehar.
2) Shapes
Shapes has been the top choice for many workout enthusiasts living in Karachi. The main reason is that it has been the oldest non-exclusive unlike Karachi Gymkhana club to have multiple facilities like swimming pool, Squash court and gymnasiums under one roof. Aside from this Shapes has three different gymnasiums, one for ladies and gents each and the third one is for mixed crowd and has much better equipment and it is called the executive gym. It is located near Cantt which is accessible for residents of many adjoined areas.
3) Core
This Core starts with a C and well let’s just say that it is the best there is, but at the same time it comes at a much higher price point even for the most basic gym package than any other gym offering the same facilities. The overall environment at Core speaks class, there is an in-house DJ too. The equipment is top notch with no expenses spared anywhere. Core is not for everyone out there but if you are someone who is looking to spend a good sum and get a great environment and amazing equipment in return the Core is the place for you.
4) Get Smart
They have gyms all over Karachi, including Tariq Road. They are the most pocket friendly of the bunch and you get your most commonly used equipment at a much reasonable pricing. There are separate timings for ladies and gents so that helps people who prefer segregation. It is always a good idea to have that option in a gym in conservative society like ours.
5) Metafitnosis
Metafitnosis is another great gym for Karachites to join and achieve your fitness goals. The best thing about Metafitnosis is that they have certified trainers from the National Academy of Sports Medicine and all of them are being mentored by Amir Siddiqui, owner of the Metafitnosis gym. One of their programs, the “Fission Fusion Program” is among the most popular programs offered by them.
These were some of the most commonly accessed options in the entire Karachi. We need to have more middle ranged options but so far this is what it is like and you have to pay a good buck for a reasonably equipped gym.
